LAX Parts 1 and 2

Well that was thoroughly confusing, so I'm gonna ramble for a while and try to figure it out for myself, perhaps my ramblings will help other confused Lost fans as well:

2004 (alternate reality/timeline created by the detonation of the nuclear core):

In Flight:

So basically the plane (Flight 815) hit similar turbulence over the Island but didn't crash since the nuclear explosion (from 1977) apparently sunk the Island and destroyed the pocket of electromagnetic energy that would have crashed the plane. (We know this is a completely alternate timeline/reality because Desmond is on the plane and Hurley is the luckiest guy in the world.) While on the flight Jack meets Bernard, Rose, Cindy, and (sort of) Kate. He saves Charlie's life (with Sayid's help) when Charlie panics and attempts to swallow his stash to hide it, obviously his plan fails when Jack opens his airway by removing the stash from Charlie's throat. Also on the plane Arzt meets Hurley, Boone and Locke have a conversation where Locke says he went on the walk-about in Australia (I think he was lying as he is still a paraplegic), and Sawyer briefly meets Kate, Marshall Edward Mars, and Hurley (he advises Hurley to not tell people he won the lottery b/c other people may try to take advantage of him).

After landing in LA:

  • Charlie gets arrested off the plane for the illegal substances he was carrying.
  • Jin gets taken into custody for not declaring his enormous wad of cash (more than $10,000) and Sun lies to the airport security about not being able to speak English.
  • Jack finds out that the airline lost his father's body somehow and meets Locke whose case of knives has also been lost. Locke comforts Jack in a way over the loss of his father and Jack gives Locke his card and offers him a free consult for Locke's paraplegia saying that nothing is irreperable.
  • Kate escapes from the Marshall while still in handcuffs stealing his coat to hide her wrists. She gets on an elevator with Sawyer who assists her in getting off the elevator after two airport security guards get on. Kate eventually escapes to the car loading area and hijacks a cab in which CLAIRE is the passenger after being spotted by the Marshall.

So that, I think, is all of the 2004 plot, I may have forgotten something, but if I forgot something it must not have been that important. More to come later about 2007 on the Island, but now lunch is over and I must go to class.

2007 on the Island:

  • Kate wakes up in a tree and proceeds to almost fall out of said tree she can't hear anything for a while (most likely due to the noise of the explosion/white flash thing) and she eventually stumbles upon Miles who also cannot hear.
  • Kate discovers that they are back in 2007 when she finds that they are at the hatch that Desmond imploded.
  • Jack is laying unconsciously by the hatch and Kate wakes him up and fills him in on everything she knows which isn't much.
  • I don't remember where Sawyer was but eventually he appears/wakes up and is enraged that 'it didn't work' and that Juliet is dead, he blames Jack for her death.
  • All of a sudden Kate hears muffled noises coming from the hatch and it slowly dawns on the survivors that even though she fell for about 100 feet and was buried in shrapnel Julite is still magically alive.
  • Meanwhile Hurley wakes up at the hippie van with Sayid (who is dying from his gunshot wound) and Jin. Jin runs to get Jack b/c Sayid is dying of a gunshot wound.
  • Hurley sees Jacob stumble out of the jungle.
  • Jacob informs Hurley that in order to save Sayid he will have to have Jin take him (Sayid) to the hole in the wall where he was with the French team. He then tells Hurley to remember the guitar case that he gave him and that he (Jacob) is dead.
  • Back at the hatch Jack, Sawyer, Kate, and Miles are frantically digging through imploded metal in attempt to reach Juliet who has ceased yelling for help. One of the metal pieces covering the entrance to the hatch is too heavy for the people to use so they decided to use the bus.
  • Jin and Jack go back to the van (or at least Jin does, I can't remember if Jakc went with him) to help Sayid and get the van to move the metal to rescue Juliet.
  • While the others are gone Sawyer informs Kate that he plans to kill Jack if Juliet dies.
  • When at least Jin (and possibly Jack) arrive at the van Hurley asks Jin about the place that Jacob mentioned and Jin says that he knows what Hurley is talking about. They load Sayid into the van and drive the van to the hatch where they use the van to haul the piece of heavy metal off of the entrance to the hatch.
  • Sawyer jumps in and finds Juliet who is indeed dying.
  • The two share a touching moment in which Juliet tells Sawyer that she is sad her plan (exploding the bomb) didn't work because she wanted him to have never had to come to the Island.
  • They kiss, she says "I'm................(I think he was going to say pregnant)" and then Juliet dies.

Wipeout v. Howie Do It

An interesting question arose at the dinner table last night when ABC's Wipeout had it's season premiere: "Is the show overly cruel?" My answer to this question is no for one main reason: peole choose to do this to themselves compared to Howie Do It (which could in my books be considered a cruel show) where unsuspecting victims are preyed upon by a snarky bald man and his camera crew. People don't sign up for Howie Do It there loving friends and/or family usually sign them up so that they can have a quick laugh as they watch their unsuspecting friend/family member be humiliated in front of however many million TV viewers plus the people in the audience. That, while being funny, is rather cruel. Contestants on Wipeout, on the other hand, sign up to be publically humilated in from of millions of TV viewers and some of them actually enjoy it. Thus, while the contestants on Wipeout are not only humiliated, bbut generally beaten up, it is not a cruel show because participation is voluntary whilst Howie Do It, where people or solely humiliated is a cruel show because participation is forced (subliminally speaking). So ends this short rant about what makes a show cruel.

In Plain Sight

This is another excellent show that I casually watch. It's on on Sunday nights on USA at 9. It's about a U.S. Marshall who works in witness protection in Albuquerque (which I obviously cannot spell) and the people whose lives she changes as well as her own family problems.

Characters:

The main character of the show, Mary Shannon is a U.S. Marshal working in witness protection (Witsec) out of Albuquerque. She is dating a baseball player/star name Raphael (Raph for short) although their relationship has been bumpy thanks in part to her sister. Mary was recently kidnapped when a bunch of drug thugs mistook her for her sister (see next paragraph for more details). When the thugs discovered who she really was Mary was almost raped and murdered thanks to the thugs stupidity (they didn't search her for a weapon), her own level-headed actions, and her partner Marshal Marshall Mann she escaped with only a few minor injuries and of course mental trauma. After finally being cleared for active duty Mary was free to work as a Marshal once more. Lately her mother (Jinx) has just returned from rehab (alcoholic) after receiving a DWI. Mary's father is a convicted felon who is on the run. He has written many letters to Mary over the years as it was Mary who looked after the rest of her family when he left. Recently it was discovered that there may be a man who can help Mary track down and meet with her father.

Mary's younger sister, Brandi, is currently taking college classes so that she can get a real job and support herself both Brandi and her/Mary's mother are living in Mary's house). Earlier she was in a relationship with a man (Chuck) who was involved with trafficking drugs. When Chuck sent Brandi to close a deal (Brandi was holding his drugs for him, a whole suitcase full of meth) she couldn't go through with it and ended up calling the cops on the other partakers in the deal thus screwing them over. After returning from the deal Brandi visited/stayed with Raph for a short while (the two had been very close friends as Brandi had taken care of Raph when he injured his arm) Later Chauck and Mary (who was mistaken for Brandi) were kidnapped by the screwed over thugs who were looking for the drugs that they payed for but never received, the drugs that were supposedly still in the suitcase at the Shannon residence. Meanwhile the FBI got involved with the drug case after Chuck was kidnapped (Chuck had been in the process of giving himself up to the FBI in exchange for entering Witsec when he was kidnapped, the FBI agents were killed). They knew that Brandi was somehow involved with the deal and placed her under house arrest of sorts so she was unable to help Mary. When Mary is finally safe she returns home to get rid of the drugs once and for all. As she is leaving the house with the suitcase she is stopped by the FBI who upon opening the suitcase find nothing but towels. They then proceed to tear apart Mary's house in search of the drugs. They find nothing and the arrogant FBI agent who ordered the search refuses to pay to fix the house thus the house is still in shambles. Brandi is currently dating a billionare recovering alcoholic.

Jinx is Brandi and Mary's mother who is slightly eccentric and a recovering alcoholic. She desperately wants to reunite with her husband and loves both of her daughters dearly. Raph is Mary's boyfriend he recently confessed an affair he had with his physical therapist and after a rough patch was able to work things out with Mary. Marshall Mann is Mary's partner who cares for her, but is more like her brother than her boyfriend. He and Mary often engage in sarcastic battles of wits.

This show is at least half-way through its second season but is definately worth watching over the summer and next year on USA.

Las Vegas - The show about the town not the town

(Characters from left to right: Sam, Mary, Danny, Mike, Ed, Delinda)

So I've found a new show to follow over the summer (is it still following if the show has already had its series finale and you're watching reruns on TNT?). "Las Vegas" originally was on NBC on I'm guessing Friday nights (it seems like a Friday night show) and is about a fabricated casino/hotel, the Montecito, on the Las Vegas strip (it was actually, I believe, at the Monte Carlo) and the main/head employees whose lives are affected by the Montecito and the other employees. This show has quickly become one of my favorite shows because it combines comedy, sarcasm, action, a hint of drama (okay more than a hint), and some romance to create the show that is perfect for every mood and everyone.

Characters (background info, basically if you read this you can start watching on Monday and know enough to follow the plot):

Ed Deline: Originally Head of Security eventually President of Operations Ed is the Godfather of the Casino/Hotel. He takes care of his people and investigates when shenanigans (i.e. murders, suicides, thefts, kidnappings, etc.) occur. Ed is an ex-marine and also ex-CIA so he has connections which enable him to get things done faster than any police department and sometimes even faster than the FBI, he also has a lot of enemies. Ed's government/foreign connections often get him and anyone involved with him into all sorts of shenanigans. However, he is very strong, and well trained in martial arts so although he may look like an old fart he most definately does not act like one. Father to Delinda (adopted father of sorts to Nessa) and wife to Jillian, although all of the heads of departments are like his children. Ed is my favorite President of Operations.

Danny McCoy: Danny is a Las Vegas local (he was born and raised there along with Mary who willbe discussed later and Luis who is a Las Vegas cop). His father owned a construction company and his mother died when he was young. Danny is/was a marine and has been deployed twice. The second time he was deployed he was sent on a top secret mission and only Ed knew where he was and what happened to him while he was there. When Danny comes back he proposes to Mary who sort of accepts for a while but (although it was her dream) eventaully declines. When Danny came back he was not the same person, he was impulsive and wasn't able to sleep. This change was due to the fact that while he was on his mission he and his team were ambushed and he was forced to call in an airstrike on top of himself and his team, he was the only survivor and although his actions saved many lives he refuses to accept the fact that he is a hero. This is made apparent when Danny refuses to accept the Silver Star that he has been awarded for his bravery. Danny is absolutely in love with Mary, has had a relationship with both Delinda and Sam (although he acts more like Sam's older brother) and is good friends with Nessa. He will do anything it takes to protect any of the girls (as was seen when he, under Ed's orders, tried to keep Sam in her suite while there was a murderer after her) Ed considers Danny a son and Danny considers Ed a father-figure. He is currently (as in if you start wathing on Monday) Head of Surveillance and Security.

Mary Connell: A local and Danny's childhood sweetheart. Mary's father was abusive, she spent most of her childhood with Danny and his family (she hid at his house for 21 days after running away from home). Danny told her father that if he ver touched Mary again he would kill him and reaffirmed his threat when Mary's father showed up at the Montecito. Mary loves Danny but cannot find a good enough reason to marry him (she thinks that he's not thinking it throuh, I say oh well). Mary is very nice which makes her somewhat gullible and gets her into trouble every so often. She is good friends with practically everybody at the Montecito and is who everyone goes to with their emotional problems (all other sorts of problems go to Ed). Mary is the 'sweetheart' of the Casino and is Head of Special Events (meaning she plans concerts, weddings, magic shows, etc.).

Samantha Jane Marquez: Sam is a freelance Casino Host who lives at the Montecito and puts on a show for not needing anyone and being heartless, but is really a generally caring person (deep, deep, deep down). She ran away from home (she was living with her grandmother) at 16 and witnessed a murder (the murder of her employer/boyfriend/billionare fellow) at age 17. When the murderer escaped from prison he came after Sam for two reasons 1)She testified against him causing him to go to jail and 2)she knew where her billionare beau had hidden solid silver bars (what he didn't know was that Sam had already collected said bars and locked them in a safe in her suite). Thanks to Danny and Ed the culprit was put bakc behind bars (where he eventually died) and Sam was safe. Sam doesn't truly trust anyone and cares mostly about her job because it is the only security that she has, she rarely puts down roots. Her job as a Casino Host is to keep the high rollers playing for as long as possible and to supply them with any luxury they might require that would cause them to stay and play longer at the Montecito. Lately she tried to help bust the Juarez Cartel after finding out that one of her whales (high rollers, you need to know that term in order for the show to make sense) was laundering money for them. This happened right after a big spat with Ed and so Ed does not entirely trust her. Anyway Sam eventually met with the head of the Cartel wearing a wire for the FBI and was almost killed in gunfight that ensued after the wire was discovered, luckily Ed was there to come to the rescue. Sam is an otherwise completley self-reliant person and can hold her own with just about anyone. Recently it was revealed that Sam was and is still married. She also seems to have an affinity for lying. (I think if you put her, House, James 'Sawyer' Ford, and Ben Linus in the same room only one of them would survive and my money would either be on House or Sam. I think the two of them would make the perfect couple as they both possess the same personality traits, but maybe that's just me.)

Mike Cannon: a physics/engineering genius Mike has a degree from MIT and originally worked as Head Valet at the Montecito due to a claustrophobia problem he had (this problem became quite evident when Mike freaked out during a power outage when he, Ed and Mitch (another security agent) were locked in the security room). Anywho Mike was promoted (demoted really as it was a pay cut) to a security agent when Ed decided that his MIT expertise were absolutely indespensible to the security team and were being wasted on the valeting. Mike has never to my knowledge been in an incredibly serious relationship because women apparently find his incredible smarts unappealing. Ed trusts Mike to help him solve all sorts of crimes and the like with his vast knowledge of all things mechanical. Mike is a computer/mathmatical/physics genius and these attributes allow him to do things that other people otherwise could not (use microscopic cameras to catch thieves and cheaters). Mike was recently responsible for resuing a young lady froma serial rapist/killer and also helped Ed get out of an unjust Traffic Violation ticket. Mike is Danny's best friend and is the closest thing that Danny has to a brother. The two get competitive at times, but make a hilarious and dynamic duo.

Delinda Deline: Delinda has a genius IQ which you would never guess from watching the show as she seems to insist on acting like an airhead. Every once in a while her genius shows when she helps solve a murder (as she did recently) or exhibits her wilderness survival techniques. Delinda runs the Montecito's restaurant/club the Mystique and therefore has to constantly put up with her chef's (Gunther) antics and predjudices. She is a fashion genius, but als very, very ADD. She and Sam are the two most kidnapped people on the show due to their contacts (Delinda's relationship to Ed and Sam's relationships to multiple millionares). She had a brief relationship with Danny at the beginning of season one but Ed quickly put the kabosh on that ater catching them in bed. Ever since then it seems that Delinda has a new boyrfriend every week. It was recently revealed that Delinda was married for a weekend and no one has seen her ex-husband since then (suggesting that Ed may have been less than thrilled). Delinda and Nessa grew up together and are practically sisters which means they also bicker quite a bit. Although Delinda may seem like a ditz she is actually brilliant, it just rarely shows.

Nessa Holt: Nessa is the Pit Boss at the Montecito and is a genius at all things invollving gambling. She can spot a cheater/card caounter from anywhere int the casino. She can also tell who is winning a game of poker simply by observing their behavior for a few seconds. Her father was a con man who was allegedly used and then killed by the CIA. It has been suggested that Ed was involved in her father's 'death,' but nothing has been confrimed. Ed has however raised Nessa ever since her father disappeared. I say disappeared because it would seem that her father has been to the Montecito to check up on Nessa quite a bit meaning that he is not acutally dead, but rather hiding in an untouchable country. Nessa is also capable of holding her own but can not stand to be on the outside of a secret. I think she has a little thing for Mike, but who knows. She is also competitive when it comes to who she and Delinda date. Danny has also promised to show her the sites of Vegas but has never gotten around to it. Not too long ago Nessa was payed a visit by a woman who seemed to know how to get Nessa into contact with her father. The woman actually turned out to be a thief, but was quickly caught by Ed, Mike, and Nessa. Since then Nessa has given up on finding her biological father as Ed has been more of a father to her than that man ever was.

I think that covers just about everything you need to know for Monday. Now that I have finished making the show sound like a cheesy soap opera I highly recommend that you watch it and judge it for yourself. As I stated earlier I think it has something for everyone to enjoy, but maybe that's just me (I doubt it though).

"Follow the Leader"

Wow. That's about all I have to say besides...I WIN!!!! Or at least Aaron lost since Jack told Kate that he would rather have never met her than crashed on the Island he has absolutely NO chance patching things up with her AND if she goes back to him after that I will be severely disappointed. PLUS Kate ended up in the same predicament as Sawyer and Juliet in the end which could allow time for their relationship to rekindle. Being as I absolutely despise Sawyer and Juliet's relationship as well as Sawyer's change in attitude I am truly hoping that things work out between him and Kate. Even Elizabeth Mitchell supports the Sawyer/Kate relationship and she plays Kate's competition, check it out:

Okay, now to the major plot points (and there are a lot of them this week):
Locke:
  • Decided he was going to be a pain in the arse and (despite Richard and Ben's warnings) decided not only does he want to go see Jacob he wants to take all of the Others to go see Jacob.
  • We found out that Locke was the one who told Richard to tell Locke that Locke had to bring everybody back to the Island and in order to do so he would have to die.
  • Locke told everybody else that he is going to see Jacob because he wants to find a way to reunite with his people (Jack, Kate, Hugo, etc.), but he later revealed to Ben that he is going to see Jacob so that he can kill him.
  • When Sun showed Richard the picture of the people in 1977 he said he remembered them distincly because he watched them all die...dun, Dun, DUN!

1977 (Jack and Kate):

  • Kate and Jack watch Faraday get shot, when Jack impusively decides to run towards danger, Kate pulls him back and tells him that they have to run away.
  • They start to run away and are stopped by two men on horseback with rifles (one of which is Widmore). Kate watches as the two men beat up Jack.
  • The two are then brought down into the Hostile camp where they are questioned by Eloise, she believes that they are not truly Dharma folk and has them put in her tent.
  • Whilst waiting in the tent Jack reveals to Kate that he believes Daniel's plan to reset the past will work and that he intends to carry it out.
  • Kate states that if it works then they will have never met.
  • Jack replies that he would rather have never met her than crashed on the Island (smooth, Jack, and thus I come one step closer to winning my bet).
  • Eloise enters the tent and Jack informs her of what he intends to do.
  • Eloise decides she wants to help because if Jack's plan works she will never kill her son.
  • Eloise takes Jack, Kate, Richard, and some redshirt guard with them and they head for the Hydrogen bomb.
  • When they get to the entrance of the tunnel where the bomb is hidden Kate decides to leave the group and go back to get Sawyer (and company) to see if any f them can talk some sense into Jack since she has failed to do so (she believes that his plan will not solve their problem, but rather kill everyone on the Island, also if the plan works she will go to jail in L.A. so I really don't blame her from wanting to stop Jack).
  • The guard is about to shoot Kate when Sayid shoots him from the bushes.
  • Eloise and Richard are then helpless to do anything but allow Kate to leave.
  • Jack, Sayid, Eloise, and Richard progress towards the bomb which is located in a tunnel.
  • It would appear Sayid supports Jack's plan...L O S T

1977 (Sawyer and Juliet):

  • Sawyer and Juliet are found out by the other Dharma people to have a)helped Kate get Ben to the Hostiles and b)have Phil locked in theie cupboard.
  • They are arrested and Sawyer is tortured (the Dharma people want to know where Kate is and he won't tell them, he also tells Juliet not to tell them no matter what).
  • Eventually the hitting progresses to Juliet.
  • After a while Sawyer asks to make a deal, he will draw a map to the Hostile's camp if he and Juliet are evacuated with the women and children on the sub.
  • It's agreed, he draws the map and they are put on the sub.
  • Just as they are discussing plans for their new life Kate is brought down into the sub and locked up with them...L O S T

1977 (Miles, Hurley, and Jin):

  • These three are about to head to the beach alone when Dr. Chang comes up and asks them if what Daniel said is true.
  • Hurley (with his lack of knowledge of the 70's) accidentally reveals that they are indeed from the future.
  • Miles affirms this and in doing so gives away that he is Dr. Chang's son.
  • Dr. Chang then decides to heed Dan's warning and evacuate the women and children from the Island including his own family...L O S T

"The Variable" yes I realize the next episode is on tomorrow so it's a good thing I'm putting this up today otherwise if you missed the episode and...

...needed a quick recap of the things you need to know for tomorrows episode and I posted this tomorrow at 7:59pm you would either have to find some magical way (such as Tivo) to record the new episode so as you had time to read this post (but then again if you had Tivo you wouldn't have missed last weeks episode in the first place) OR you would watch tomorrows episode and be totally confused because Lost is written in such a way that if you miss one episode you aren't going to understand the next one unlesss you are incredibly clever beyond all means OR you would miss the beginning of tomorrows episod ebecause you were reading this summary OR you could read this summary while watching tomorrow's episode and only half know what's going on in both...inhale...thus do not complain about the late posting (I know none of you would actually do that I just felt like ranting for a short bit there) because it is in fact not late it is simply on time for tomorrow's episode because now what happened last week will be fresh in your mind. That might in fact be the longest sentence I have ever written.

Okay now getting down to it last weeks episode was rather confusing, here are the things you need to know for tomorrow:

  • Widmore is Daniel Faraday's father (where did he get the name Faraday? his mother's last name is Hawking). Dan's mother convinced him to go to the Island when she told him that doing so would heal his memory loss problem (a consequence of Dan testing his time traveling experiment on himself). ----Flashbacks

  • Oh yeah, Dan came back to the Island at the end of the last episode (but it was recapped at the beginning of this one) after working for the Dharma Initiative in Ann Arbor.

  • Dan believes that his mother was wrong about sending the Oceanic 5 back to the Island when she did because the Dharma people (who are building the Swan Station) are about to drill in a significant amount of electromagnetic energy at the Swan Station site which will cause a huge accident with what I assume will be major casualties. The solution to this energy pocket is to cover the entire area in concrete like Chernoble and have a team of two push a button every 108 minutes to keep the energy at bay.

  • Dan revealed to Dr. Chang that he and Miles are from the future and that Miles is his son (luckily Miles denied everything which for the time being kept the secret safe). He also tells Dr. Chang that he needs to evacuate the Island because of the large electromagnetic energy pocket beneath the Swan Station site.

  • Sawyer held a meeting as to what the Oceanic survivors, Juliet and the leftover Freighter people should do next being as they are in a crapload of trouble (Sawyer has Phil tied up in his closet, Linus suspects Kate and Jack are Hostiles).

  • Dan crashes the meeting and says that he needs to speak with his mother who is a Hostile.

  • The members of the meeting vote on what to do next Sawyer, Miles, Juliet and Hurley vote to pack supplies and go back to the beach to start over.

  • Jack wants Kate to take him and Dan to the Hostiles which leads to a pissing match between the two men: Sawyer: "Kate don't say a thing." Jack: "She can say whatever she wants." Sawyer: "Something, something, something come with us Freckles." Juliet: "[Oh no he didn't] Kate the code to the fence is 141714 (or something else containg ones, sevens, and fours) you should go with Jack."

  • Thus the four who voted to go to the beach start packing and the other three head to the motor pool to get guns.

  • Dan stops to tell a six-year old Charlotte (who according to what Ben said in season 4 shouldn't even be born until July 1979 and it is 1977) that when Dr. Chang evacutates the Island she and her mother need to get on the sub and leave.

  • After arming up at the motor pool a Dharma Bus drives up containing Radzinsky and friends who start shooting after Dan and friends refuse to drop their guns. Dan is nicked in the neck.

  • The three (now fugitives) run to a jeep and speed away.

  • Radzinsky goes to Sawyer and Juliet's house to tell him what happened and discovers that they have Phil tied up in their closet. Sawyer and Juliet are taken into custody.

  • Upon reaching the pylons Kate goes to shut them off. Meanwhile Dan tells Jack that they can in fact die as 1977 is their present (which doesn't make any sense because if they die in the past on the Island their lives will run in a continuous loop and whatnot, but whatever I guess it makes the show more dramatic).

  • The three trek into the jungle, Dan reveals his plan to keep the EM energy from being released (and being as it was the EM energy that crashed the 815 flight destroying the energy will erase the everyone's pasts'/futures' I don't even know anymore). He plans to detonate the Jughead (hydrogen bomb) that the Hostiles buried earlier on.

  • Eventually they reach the Hostiles' camp and Dan goes i waving his gun around demanding to talk with Eloise (his mother).

  • Richard starts talking to him and trying to calm him down telling him that Eloise isn't there.

  • Dan demands to know where the Hydrogen bomb is, points the gun at Richard's head and counts to 3.
  • All of a sudden Dan is shot in the back by none other than Eloise herslef, he tells her that he is her son and then dies...L O S T

This time they have gone too far with the whole time traveling thing, they CANNOT change the past, it is impossible for if they never came to the Island then they never would have to go back and change the past, it CAN'T HAPPEN. If it does happen, and the season finale ends with the plane landing in L.A. I will not only be incredibly pissed, but I will also be incredibly disappointed because the writers have been sooo clever with the plot (up to this point in time) and it would be a shame for them to cop out now.

If You Ever Find Yourself Home Ill and Only in the Mood to Watch TV...

Due to my insufficient immune system I have spent much time watching TV lately as is custom when one is home sick. In doing so I have come up with a schedule of TV that I will watch when I am home sick:

9:00AM (if I am up by then and am in the mood to watch re-runs from the secon season) ER on TNT
10:00AM and 11:00AM (My favorite two hour block) Las Vegas on TNT (more on the excellence of this show later)
12:00Noon (Lunch) Tivoed episodes of Lost/In Plain Sight/ER or CSI: Miami on that one crime channel (24 for Shellesburg cable)
1:00PM (usually I am also workin on some form of schoolwork by this point in time unless I am truly dying of pain) From about noon to three there really isn't much on TV so if there aren't any fun marathons running on USA (i.e. House, Law and Order: SVU, In Plain Sight, or Burn Notice) I usually stick a movie in (yesterday I had to watch a movie as part of my HW so I stuck that in)
3:00ishPM Lost is on Scifi (it's season 4 re-runs at the moment so I will watch them) or Wife Swap is on Lifetime
4:00PM Gilmore Girls on ABC Family
5:00PM there is absolutely nothing on TV from 5-5thirty so I usually watch something that I have Tivoed
5:30PM Friends on TBS
6:00 and 6:30PM Friends on CW
7:00 varies from day to day:
  • Monday: Dancing with the Stars on ABC or Chuck on NBC
  • Tuesday: Biggest Loser on NBC
  • Wednesday: Usually not home till eight when Lost is on ABC
  • Thursday: Parks and Recreation on NBC
  • Friday: Random movies on random channels or Supernanny at 8 on ABC
  • During the weekend House or some other equally entertaining show is on USA

When I am sick I am usually done with staying conscious by Eight or so thus I go to bed. However with this round of illness I feel like someone is constantly using a sledgehammer to drive a railroad spike into the back of my head and the since laying down position usually irritates my massively infect sinuses and surrounding areas I have been finding sleep an incredibly difficult task to accomplish. In this case I usually read until ten or so then toss and turn for around two hours until exhaustion overcomes the pain and I lose consciousness. The battle has only just begun though for once I've had two to three hours of sleep and REM sets in the pain of my head is usually enough to wake me up in a cold sweat (from a fever?) and cause me to have to try to fall asleep all over again. Needless to say my nights lately have been less than pleasant. I go back to the doctor Tuesday to see if my infection deep sinus/head infection has cleared up (which I highly doubt being as I am in so much constant pain) and if it hasn't I shall be scheduled for surgery in the near future. My life is so great right now.

Note to the reader:

I am terribly sorry that all of my blog posts lately have been about me ranting about my horribly immunodeficient afflicted life, but being as the episode of Lost that was on last night was all the major flashforwards (from season 4) and early episode highlights (from this season) in chronological order I don't really have much else to talk about. Plus I haven't really been in an incredibly chipper mood due to the fact that AP exams keep getting closer which stresses me out quite a bit so obviously I'm not in the mood to write a Puff Piece (of course I've never really been in the mood to write a Puff Piece it's just not my nature). So once again I apologize for being such a downer and throwing so many pity parties for myself, but this really is the only place I can rant about this stuff.

"Some Like It Hoth"

It would appear that Aaron's theory that Miles was Dr. Chang/Halliwax/Candle's son. That really was the only question that last night's episode answered. Instead the episode opened the door for about fifty more questions to appear and ended with a major cliffhanger that did in a round-about way sort of confrim that the Oceanic survivors and their friends from the future will be leaving the 70's timeline very soon in one way or another.

I've come to the conclusion that I really like Miles and feel pretty bad for him. He reminds me of what Sawyer was like before he got all serious and mature. I feel bad for him because he grew up like the Osment kid in the Sixth Sense: His dad was never around (because he was dead) and he was constantly plagued by the unhappy dead. That is a seriously crappy life. However I think that Mrs. Straume was lying about Dr. Chang/Halliwax/Candle not wanting anything to do with Miles, he seemed be very loving and caring of baby Miles in the 70's.

Plot (in summary):

Dharma Time:

  • Kate and Sawyer get back to the pylons and Sawyer radios Miles and tells him to get rid of the video records from the camera on the pylon where he and Kate brought Ben.

  • Kate goes back to New Otherton, Sawyer heads off somewhere else to cover their tracks.

  • Miles is about to erase the tapes when Horace comes in looking for LaFleur.

  • Miles tells him that LaFleur is out looking for the fugitive Hostile (meaning Sayid) and that he is out of radio contact.

  • Horace tells Miles that since LaFleur is out he is going to be brought into the Circle of Trust (every time I hear that I think of Robert DeNiro in 'Meet the Parents') and that he needs Miles to run an errand for him that is top secret.

  • He send Miles out to Hostile territory to 'pick up a package' from Radzinski.

  • The package turns out to be the body of a Dharma worker who has been shot in the head and therefore killed.

  • Miles then asks the dead guy what happened to him.

Well I started to write a summary but now that I have procrastinated I shal simply jot down some things that you need to know before you watch next weeks episode:

  • Some guy got shot out at the Swan Station possibly by the Dharma people.

  • Miles is Dr. Chang's kid.

  • Miles, after accepting the job from Widmore (to go to the Island) which $1.6million (which explains his want for $3.2million from Ben)is 'kidnapped' by Ilana's friend (Statue-Shadow-question people) and told that he is not 'ready' to go to the island because he can't answer the statue-shadow question. He tells them that if they pay him $3.2million he will stay home, they refuse and he gets on the freighter.

  • Roger Linus suspects that Kate had something to do with Ben's disappearance because she tried to comfort him and told him she had a feeling that everything would be okay.

  • Roger asks Jack if he should turn Kate in to Horace and Jack becomes a tad hostile when he tells Roger that he and Kate are friends and that she would never do anything to hurt Roger's kid thus implicating himslef in the crime.

  • Phil (one of the security guys) found the tape from the pylons of Sawyer and Kate taking been to the Hostiles and confronts Sawyer about it. Sawyer punches him and knocks him out...

I'm pretty sure that's all you will need to know for the next episode so there you have it short, sweet, and to the point.

"Dead is Dead"

I've had this internal battle going this season about which evil fellow's (Ben or Widmore) story about what happened on the Island 20some years ago I want to believe. I think after last night's episode that from now on I shall definitely believe Ben's word over Widmore's (even though both men lie with every breath) due to the fact that Ben seems to actually have a heart. Another thing I thik I learned from last night's episode is that Kate, Sawyer, Miles, Jack, Hurley, Juliet, Jin, and Sayid have to get back to the future before Ben comes back from his stay with the Others otherwise I assume he would have some memory of them (excepting Sayid of course who is apparently roaming around the land inside the Dharma fence unless of course he went into the jungle when Sawyer shut it off).

Key Points:

Current time:
  • So as we all know from last week's episode Ben woke up on Alcatraz at the Hydra with Locke sitting next to him.
  • After he wakes up he informs Locke that he knew this (meaning that John would come back to life on the Island) would happen and that he is amazed that it actually did happen...blah, blah, blah, lies, lies, lies.
  • When John asks Ben why he came back/why he was trying to escape to the main Island Ben replies that he was going there to be judged by the smoke monster for coming back to the Island.
  • Later Ben is walking around the beach when he meets Caesar. Caesar informs Ben of the accusations that Locke has made against him (saying that Ben is the man who killed him). Ben uses these accusations (as well as the fact that no one say Locke on the plane) to spin a lie about Locke not being on the plane/Locke being a crackpot resident of the Island. Caesar shows Ben a gun that he has and tells him that he has his back.
  • Ben then goes to his office in the Hydra where he digs out an old photo of Alex. Locke comes in and asks Ben about the whole murder thing.
  • Ben explains that killing Locke was the only way to get him and the Oceanic 5 back to the Island (it was also the only way for Ben to get back to the Island), he also says that he had to talk Locke out of killing himself so that the important info Locke had about how to get back to the Island wouldn't die with him and after he got that information it was much easier to kill Locke than to talk him back into killing himself.
  • Locke replies that he was merely looking for an apology. He also tells Ben that he thinks Ben came back to the Island for killing Alex (his adopted daughter for those of you who don't know) not to be judged for coming back to the Island (cuz that's just sillly). Then Locke suggests that they go over to the main Island that very minute.
  • While Locke and Ben are getting ready to leave in one of the outriggers Caesar comes over and questions them about what they are doing.
  • Locke tells him that they are going to the Main Island, Caesar asks Ben if he is going with Locke. Ben replies that Locke didn't really give him a choice.
  • Caesar says that he is the leader and he says that they can't take the boat.
  • John keeps getting ready to leave.
  • Caesar reaches for his gun.
  • Ben pulls the gun out of his own pack and shoots Caesar (didn't see that coming, but that's okay I don't really like Caesar he's too much of a wannabe Jack and I don't really like Jack thus my dislike of Caesar).
  • Ben tells Locke to consider that his apology.
  • The two head to New Otherton and find Sun and Frank in Alex's room at Ben's old house.
  • Sun says that they have been told by Christian to wait for Locke...Locke is there...surprise, dead is apparently not dead.
  • They all talk...Lapidus goes back to the Alcatraz Island, Sun chooses to stay with the psychopaths as they are the only chance she has of finding Jin.
  • Ben trys to summon the monster, but the monster doesn't come.
  • Locke says that he knows where the monster lives and leads the two to "The Temple."
  • Locke and Ben go under the temple (the place where the frenchmen got 'infected').
  • Ben affirms that he came back to be judged for what happened to Alex and starts to press on alone when he falls through the floor into another chamber below, Locke goes to find a way to get Ben out.
  • Ben explores the chamber. There are lots of hiroglyphs on the walls and at the far end there is a picture of what/who I assume is Anubis fighting what/who I also assume is either the smoke monster or Jacob. Below the picture is what appears to be some sort of cage from which the smoke monster emerges and engulfs Ben.
  • Ben is forced to relive some of his best and worst moments with Alex including her murder.
  • After that the smoke monster goes back into the cage and Alex (or perhaps Jacob/the smoke monster in the form of Alex appears).
  • Ben tells her that he is sorry and that what happened to her is all his fault.
  • She tells him he knows and then attacks him informing him that she knows he is already planning to kill Locke again and that he is to listen to and follow Locke no matter what.
  • She makes him swear that he will follow (and therefore not harm) Locke and tells him that if he breaks his promise she will hunt him down and destroy him.
  • Then she is gone.
  • Locke throws a vine down and Ben informs Locke that he has been forgiven...L O S T
  • When Lapidus gets back to Alcatraz he is informed by a very distraught survivor that Ilana (the bounty hunter who had Sayid in custody) and her men have found guns and taken over.
  • When Lapidus goes to ask Ilana what is going on she asks him what lies in the shadow of the statue (we know that the well is behind the statue, but how would she know that unless she has lived on the Island before? SHE'S AN OTHER) to which Frank answers something along the lines of "What?" Thus Ilana knocks Frank unconscious...L O S T.

Flashbacks:

  • First flashback is of Ben recovering from his GSW at the Hostile's camp. Widmore (who is the leader at this time) is very unhappy with Alpert for saving Ben until he finds out that 'the Island wanted it done/chose Ben for something.' Widmore then welcomes Ben as one of his own and informs Ben that he will being going back to New Otherton, but he will remain a member of the Hostile clan (or whatever you want to call the Other's of this time).
  • Next we see a older Ben (probably mid-twenties) with a twelve-year old or so Ethan arguing about who is going to 'do it' (meaning shoot and kill Rousseau). Ben says that he will do it and takes a gun into her tent clutzily making a racket as he does so. Alex starts to cry and instead of killing Rousseau he takes Alex and tells her that if she wants her baby to live (and also to stay alive herself) that every time she hears whispers in the jungle she is to run the other way. When Ben gets back to the Hostile camp with Alex and the news that he did not kill Rousseau as was intended he is met with hostility from Widmore. He asks Widmore what he wanted him to do about Alex after he was to kill Rousseau and Widmore replies that he was to kill her as well. Ben says that's not what the Island wanted and if Widmore really wanted Alex dead then he could kill the poor innocent baby right there in front of the other Hostiles, Widmore backs down.
  • Afterwords we flash to a time after the Purge (Alex is about 6 and the Hostiles are living in New Otherton) when Widmore is being exiled. Ben goes to see him off on the submarine (not at the Orchid as Widmore had told John). Ben tells Widmore that he is being exiled because he broke the rules by going off Island constantly and having a daughter (Penny) with and outsider. Widmore replies that Ben wouldn't give up Alex for the Island and the two get into a spat about who actually wanted Alex dead. Widmore replies that if the Island truly wants Alex dead then she will be dead.
  • Finally we flash to the day of the flight (before Ben calls Jack to ask him to take Locke's body to the airport) where Ben is at the Marina. He calls Widmore to tell him a) that he has found a way back to the Island and b) that he is about to kill Widmore's daughter, then he hangs up and head towards Desmond and Penny's boat. Desmond returns from what appears to be a grocery run and yells at Ben who in turn shoots Desmond in the side. He then advances toward Penny (who is on the deck of the boat shouting at Desmond) and is about to kill her when Charlie (her and Desmond's son) comes up on deck. She tells him to go back below decks and begs Ben not to harm her son. During Ben's hesitation he is (deservadly) brutally attacked by Desmond from behind and thrown into the water...L O S T.

What we can gather from this:

  • Ilana and friends are either Others, working for Ben, or working for Widmore
  • Widmore lied about how he was exiled.
  • Widmore is a truly evil man who wanted to kill a baby.
  • Penny is NOT dead (hooray).
  • Ben saved Alex's life and did not kill Rousseau as he was meant to (perhaps he is in some twisted way a good guy).
  • Ben has no recollection (although he could be lying) of seeing Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Kate, etc. in the Dharma Initiative when he was a kid so they have to get back to the future before he returns to New Otherton.

ER Finale!

7:31 PM: Yeah it's not on yet, but I thought I could start talking about it anyway. I can say that I will be very sad when all is said and done, and I'm really glad their bringing back all of the cast that they can to be on tonight's episode. I only just starting watching the re-runs on TNT but in the year that I've been watching I've managed to watch (in-depth) the end of season 6 all the way through season 14 and back to the pilot and season 1, so I do have some claim to being sad about the end. I'm kind of annoyed that they keep playing commercials for Southland as if it is going to replace ER since it's by the same producers. Okay, ER recap is back...

Later: Wow, what a great way to end such an influential and beloved series. The episode incorporated a ton of details (i.e. speeches, actions, gestures, scenes) from various episodes of the previous season. I especially appreciated that the final episode began in the same way that the Pilot did. One thing that really made me happy was that they began and ended the series with the rise of a Dr. Greene, it really added to the whole legacy of ER (and was really pretty special to all the people who watched Dr. Mark Greene die =>the last thing on his bucket list was "Fix Rachel" and he obviously succeeded as she is on her way to becoming a doctor). Although it was a little annoying the fact that there were things left unresolved from the episode served as a reminder that the life of a real ER doesn't ever end, I don't know, it was a reminder that if the portrayed County General ER was real it wouldn't stop functioning just because it's show was over. Anywho I thought that the end of the ER era was very well written and acted. I was not disappointed.

"Whatever Happened, Happened"

May I first start off by saying Jack is an idiot. If he had just saved little Ben's life, Ben would not have been evil and all would have been right with the world, but nooooo, Jack is way to arrogant and stuck up to save the life of an innocent child. Let's look at it like this: had Jack saved Ben he would have remembered being shot and almost killed by a "Hostile" and saved by a "Janitor" named Jack Shepherd. Had this happened a)if the Purge happened Ben would have been killed in it and Widmore would still be on the Island leading the Others which could be good or bad, but would most certainly have altered the course of the lives of the 815 survivors, b)if the Purge didn't happen or perhaps Ben survived the purge he probably would have been much kinder to (and slightly confused) to Jack and company when they showed up on the Island the second time AND he would most likely harbour a horrible hatred of the Others/Hostiles, and c)who knows what sort of drastic differences to the plot of Lost would have been created.

Last night's episode was absolutely magnificent. Finally we know a)what happened to Aaron, b)why Kate came back to the Island, and c)what happened between Kate and Cassidy regarding Sawyer and Clementine (I still wonder if Kevin ever tried to contact Kate after the crash though). I had al lightbulb moment while watching last night about how the Oceanic 4 and friends will get back to the future, Widmore told Locke that Ben took over as leader of the Others and exiled Widmore back to civilization. In order to get back to civilzation Widmore was forced to turn the wheel which would have moved the Island (or certain people on the Island, through time (this is also might be the "Incident" mentioned in the Swan Station Orientation video), 30 years into the future perhaps. Anywho last night's episode was further evidence that neither I nor Aaron is anywhere close to winning the bet we have going due to the fact(s) that Kate and Jack had a major falling out and Sawyer told Kate that they never would have worked out because he wasn't "fit to be her boyfriend" (however he did call her Freckles for the first time in three years, but then again he also told her to shut up and scram).

Once again I'm going to break down the episode in (what I hope is) an easy to follow manner that simply highlights the key events/things you will probably need to know and understand in order to follow future episodes:

1977:
  • Ben survived Sayid shooting him and was brought back to New Otherton by Jin.
  • Kate met Ben's dad Roger Linus and the two had a friendly talk about being made greese monkies and janitors by the Dharma people.
  • Horace caught Sawyer and Kate in the end of an argument (Kate wanted to know what was going on w/Ben and Sayid, Sawyer didn't want her to draw attention to herself) which could have (but didn't as far as we know because the two managed to make up a semi-convincing cover story about Sawyer asking Kate if she saw anything suspicious) blown their cover.
  • Sawyer and Horace determined that Sayid had been busted out by somebody with access to Janitor's keys.
  • Upon going to the infirmary to check on Juliet's progress with Ben, Sawyer met Roger and asked him for his keys, when Roger went to his pocket where his keys normally resided they weren't there informing both Sawyer and Roger that Ben was the person who helped Sayid escape.
  • Sawyer put Jack, Kate and Hurley under House Arrest via Miles to keep them out of the way.
  • Juliet (not actually being a surgeon) could not fix Ben's injuries and thus asked Sawyer to ask Jack for help.
  • Jack being the arrogant bastard he is refused to save the dying child.
  • Hurley and Miles had a confusing and amusing argument about the past (1977) being their present and since whatever happened, happened they cannot possibly change the outcome.
  • Kate had a falling out with Jack about him refusing to help Ben and how she didn't like the new Jack who just sat around and did nothing to which he rebutted that he had already saved Ben once for her (and apparently he didn't plan on doing it again) and that she didn't like the old Jack to which Kate responded by storming out of the house and slamming the door behind her (so much for house arrest).
  • Kate (who must be O-neg) gave blood to help sustain Ben's life. Whilst giving blood she had a nice conversation with Roger about parenthood.
  • Ben went into hypoxic shock and Juliet didn't know what else to do so she and Kate decided that Ben's only hope rested with the Others/Hostiles.
  • Kate took Ben in a Dharma bus to the sonic fence on her way to take him to the Hostiles.
  • Juliet sent Sawyer after her to help her with her mission.
  • Sawyer shut the fence off and carried Ben into the jungle on the other side with Kate.
  • The two had an interesting conversation about their relationship, Cassidy, and Clementine.
  • The Hostiles arrived and informed Sawyer and Kate that they were in violation of the Truce.
  • Sawyer asked them to take Kate, Ben and himself to Richard in order to save Ben's life, the Hostiles complied.
  • Richard greeted Sawyer genially and asked who Kate was.
  • Richard agreed to save Ben, but warned Sawyer and Kate that if he did this his innocence would be gone and he would forever be one of them (an Other/Hostile).
  • Kate and Sawyer agreed to the consequences and apparently headed back to New Otherton...L O S T

Present (On Alcatraz):

  • Ben woke up with Locke next to him.
  • Locke welcomed Ben back to the land of the living (for now)...L O S T

Flashbacks:

  • Kate went to visit Cassidy right after getting back to civilization spilling the beans about what really happened on the Island and giving her the settlement money she got from Oceanic as Sawyer's restitution.
  • Cassidy figured out that Kate was lying about Aaron and asks her why even though she told her all about what really happened on the Island she still lied about who Aaron was. Kate replies that she lied because she had to.
  • Cassidy tells Kate that she thinks Sawyer is a coward and that the only reason he jumped was because he was afraid of what would happen relationship-wise if he didn't. She also shares that she thinks he is an idiot for thinking that sending Kate with a restitution of money that isn't even his and a message that he wants Clementine to be taken care of makes up for everything that he put them through. She tells Kate that she has nothing but sympathy for her and her situation.
  • The Flashbacks then go to the night that Jack, Ben, Sun, Sayid, and her all met at the marina. It shows that after she drove off she went to a grocery store to get Aaron something to drink.
  • While there her cell rings and upon seeing that the caller is Jack she turns the phone off and puts it away. In the short instant while she checked her phone Aaron disappeared.
  • Kate frantically runs through the story asking everybody she sees if they have seen her son. She finally spots a blonde woman leading him to the check-out about to make a lost and found announcement.
  • She then goes to Cassidy's house and the two discuss Kate's situation.
  • Kate admits that she has always expected someone to try to take Aaron away from her and wondered why it hadn't happened yet.
  • Cassidy suggests that this feeling is due to the fact that Kate "took Aaron" first.
  • The flashbacks then go to the night that Kate showed up at Jack's appartment, only now she is at the hotel where Mrs. Littleton (Claire's mum) is lodging.
  • Kate explains everything about Aaron to Mrs. Littleton and tells her that Aaron is in a room a few doors down waiting for her (Mrs. Littleton) when she is ready. She explains that she has told Aaron that he will be staying with her while she is away and that she is his Grandmother.
  • Mrs. Littleton asks Kate where she is going and Kate tells her that she is going back to the Island to find and rescue Claire...L O S T

"He's Our You"

I quite enjoyed this episode, but due to my tardiness in writing this post and illness last week (which has left me with a mound of make-up work to complete and a migraine headache to deal with) I am only going to summarize important events of the episode (things you'll need to know for next week).

  • After being brought to New Otherton and imprisoned in what will eventually become Ben's basement Sayid is questioned by Horace who assumes due to the handcuffs that Sayid is either in some sort of disagreement with 'his people' (meaning the Hostiles as they assume he is a Hostile since there are supposedly no other people on the Island and Sayid is not a member of the Dharma Initiative, my question is why didn't Sawyer just say that the Oceanic 4 who are currently in his timeline are the long-lost members of his research team?) making Horace sympathetic towards him or he is a spy making him ripe for the killing. Sayid does not answer any of his questions.
  • Sawyer then tries to convince Sayid to allow him to beat Sayid up to make it look like he got Sayid to confess that he was trying to defect from the Hostiles so that Sayid can become a free member of the D.I. Sayid refuses and tells Sawyer that he is on his own.
  • Sawyer 'has no other choice' but to let the Dharma people take Sayid to their interrogator who gives Sayid what I assume was Sodium Pentathol (truth serum) which causes Sayid to confess that he came to the Island via Ajira flight 316 in turn causing him to confess that a) he has been to the Island before b) that he is from the future c) that he knows everything about the Dharma stations and d) that the everyone in the Dharma Initiative is going to die in the Purge. This unbelievable confession causes the Dharma people to think that their interrogator screwed up the dose and that they will never get the truth out of Sayid. (Wow, that was a great plan Sawyer, good thinking he almost exposed you and everyone who you love.)
  • After returning Sayid to his cell the Dharma people take a vote on whether or not to kill Sayid it is almost unanimous in favor of executing Sayid escept for Sawyer. After a few words from Horace Sawyer changes his nay to a yay in order to 'keep his standing' w/the Dharma folks. He then goes to release Sayid, but Sayid doesn't take the opportunity to run I believe Destiny was involved in his reasons for not running.
  • Sawyer then goes to talk to Kate (who was recently informed by Hurley about the relationship between Sawyer and Juliet) about why she came back to the Island, they are interrupted by a burning Hippie Bus before she is able to answer (I hope what she was going to say was something along the lines of "Because there wasn't anything worth staying for back in L.A." because that would have been something of poetic justice, but I suppose I shan't ever know). Sawyer and Kate rush to help the people in the burning house that the bus crashed into.
  • Meanwhile in his future basement Ben releases Sayid in exchange for Sayid's promise to take him to the Hostiles. The tow head along a dirt road out of New Otherton where Sayid is spotted by Jin who is driving a hippie bus. Sayid tells Jin that Sawyer let him go then has no choice but to knock Jin unconscious when he radios 'LaFleur' to check out Sayid's story.
  • Sayid then tells Ben that he was right about him (in a flashback big Ben told Sayid that he was a natural born killer and that it was really the only thing he was good at) then shoots him...L O S T!
  • In flashbacks we learned that Sayid was on the plane being escorted by a bounty hunter (Ilana) back to Guam to receive justice for killing someone Ben had asked him to kill, that's really all that was important I think.
My opinion: Ben's not dead, what happened, happened, they cannot change the past and they cannot die for if they died in the past they could never come to the Island in the future meaning that they have to get back to real time or their lives on the Island will run in an endless loop. I am really curious where they will go with the whole Sayid is a Hostile thing and if he will actually join the Hostiles. I'm also thinking that the reason Ben picked Sayid to be his assassin was because Sayid shot him when he was a child (remember people heal much faster on the Island than normally). So many twists, I am really excited for next week, wonder whose flashbacks it will be (can't be Jack or John's their lives have been pretty much fully explained). What's going to happen to Ben now that he is w/John (who he murdered)? Where are all the other original survivors (Steve, Rose, Bernard, etc.)? Jack and Juliet, Sawyer and Kate? Will Jack in an angry and resentful flurry of emotions try to overthrow Sawyer as the leader and start doing things his own way? I also wonder how Sun and Lapidus will get to the '70s and if Claire will show up w/Christian at any point. So many questions that really need to be answered. Oy to the Vey. Exciting.

"316"

That was insane and I think (after watching the promo for next week) that we as viewers are going to have to wait two weeks before we actually know what's going on with the people on the island which is rather obnoxious, but I suppose twill be interesting to find out what sort of wonko things happened with Locke after he turned the wheel. I am really happy after watching the episode last night that Kate and Jack are not back together (the promos ade it look like they were going to get back together, but as it turns out it was just a moment of weakness on Kate's part that Jack took advantage of) so hooray for that.

My problem with Jack (this is going to be a very long post in case you were wondering):

I really liked Jack in the beginning (season one and part of season two), he seemed like a nice enough fellow and he had a sense of humor. Then when he found out that Sawyer was also in love with Kate he became WAY too over protective of her and ended up driving her away (not letting her go with them after Michael then getting angry when she tracked them and came anyway but ended up getting caught and almost killed). Then he was once again flustered when she didn't confide in him everything that she knew (i.e. finding costumes in the medical station), you know what, I'll just do an entire post on this later as it has very little to actually do with the episode. It's a big ranting point for me.

Plot:

So right away we know that at least three of the Oceanic 6 made it back to the island (stupid children, why would you ever go back you just got away) because the episode opens with Jakc waking up in the jungle (just as he did in the pilot episode) with a piece of paper in his hand that says I wish...(without the dot dot dot, it's ripped off so we can only see the I wish part). Hurley is then heard yelling for Jack because he is in grave need of assisstance. Jack follows the noise and ends up at the waterfall/pond thing featured in episode 12 (where Kate and Sawyer find the Halliburton case) where it appears that Hurley is drowning managing only to stay afloat by hanging onto a guitar case (possibly Charlie's guitar case?). Jack heroically dives in from the top of the waterfall only to discover that he and Hurley can both stand in the area of the pond where Hurley was 'drowning.' Then we see Kate looking quite dead on a rock on the edge of the pond thing. Jack rushes over to her to discover that there isn't a scratch on her, she's breathing perfectly and is therefore just unconscious. He wakes her up and it is confirmed that they are indeed back on the Island, (thank you grasp of the incredibly obvious) and that none of them has any memory of a crash...dun...Dun...DUN!!!

People at Church (Desmond, Sun, Ben, Jack, Faraday's deranged mother whose name is Eloise):

  • Eloise takes her visiters downstairs (in the Church, if you don't remember what happened in the previous episode please see last post for a synopsis) to a Dharma Station known as the Lamp-post which is revealed (by Eloise) as to be the station where the location of the island was first discovered.

  • Eloise also mentions that the Island is constantly on the move, not on ly through space, but through time as well which is the reason that the survivors of flight 815 were never rescued. She talks about the brilliant fellow who first discovered this, how he discovered it (pendulum swings over electromagnetic energy similar to that on the island...very complicated+not a physisist=not going to explain it in depth), and how he wrote a bunch of equations that can predict with relative accuracy where the island is going to be at any point in time.

  • At this point in time Desmond becomes fluastered at the fact that the people in the room (namely Jack and Sun) are willingly going back to the Island.

  • When asked why he is there he says that he is there to deliver a message from Daniel that his mother and ONLY his mother is supposed to help/save the Island not any of the Oceanic Six and what not.

  • Eloise replys that she is helping and that the Island is 'done with Desmond yet.'

  • Desmond then goes on to warn Jack that theses people (the Others, Ben, Locke, etc.) are using him (and the others) in some sadistic game and that he should get out while he still can/ignore anything that Eloise tells him. He also mentions that Eloise cost him 4 years of his life by telling him that his sole purpose in life was to go to the Island.

  • He then yells that the Island may not be done with him, but he is done with the Island.

  • Exit Desmond with the slam of a door.

  • Eloise continues on to say that she believes she has found a window of opportunity for the group to return, an Ajira Airlines (yeah, I totally saw that coming) flight to Guam that is apparently going to fly directly over where the island will be at that point in time.

  • She then informs the bunch that in order to increase their chances of getting back to the island they need to as best they can recreate the circumstances of the first flight.

  • When Jack asks what would happen if they couldn't get everyone on the flight Eloise responds that the results would be unprediactable.

  • Jack then stupidly ask if 'that's it' to which Eloise responds that that is not it, at least not for Jack.

  • She takes Jack to her office where she gives him Locke's suicide note (now we know how/why he died and I cannot say that this was a huge surprise to me) and tells him that Locke's body will be a proxy for Christian's body (Jack's dad) and that in order for this to work Jack must give something of Christian's to Locke.

Jack (since the entire episode followed Jack this is going to be a very long section):

  • Jack exits the office to find Ben alone in the Sanctuary, who tells him that Sun has left the building.

  • Jack then asks about Locke's body to which Ben replies that he has friend watching it and will pick it up before he heads to the airport the following day.

  • Ben then asks Jack what Eloise said to him.

  • Jack responds by asking how Eloise knows what she knows and shy she is helping them.

  • Ben responds by telling the story of Thomas the Apostle (Doubting Tom, if you don't know this story it can be found in the Bible or online).

  • Ben then goes to leave and when Jack asks him where he's going he says something along the lines of that he is fulfilling a promise he made to an old friend (big red flag, Ben doesn't have any real friends, he has subordinates, people who either follow him because they admire him, have no other choice, or are scared of him...HE MEANS THAT HE IS GOING TO KILL PENNY WIDMORE...oh crap).

  • Jack is next seen at a bar drinking some sort of alcohol (the Island will be good for him, after all as far as we know all of the beer is gone) when his phone rings and he answers it with a "He did what?"

  • Next we see of Jack he is at a nursing home where an important looking man is telling him that this is the 4th time 'he's' left and that 'he' has got to follow the rules or 'he' will be moved to a different facility.

  • Jack then goes up to a resident named Ray and the two go back to Ray's room where we find out that Ray is Jack's Grandad who packed a suitcase and tried to escape the nursing home and go somewhere on a bus.

  • While Jack is unpacking the suitcase he finds a pair of his father's shoes which he takes with him back to his appartment.

  • When Jack gets back to his appartment he immediately heads for the booze which he is about to drink when he hears footsteps somewhere in the appartment.

  • He goes to investigate (which reminded me of a bad horror movie: he progresses through his dark house alone, with nothing to defend himself, and no lights on) and finds Kate lying on his bed looking utterly defeated (no Aaron).

  • He gently asks her why she is there. To which she resonds with the question: "Are you still going back to the Island?"

  • He answers affirmatively and she tells him that she is going with him.

  • Then Jack starts asking questions (i.e. what happened, where's Aaron? I wonder how she got in) to which Kate answers that if he wants her to go with him he will never ask her about Aaron again.

  • He agrees and she (in a moment of weakness which he takes advantage of) kisses him and . . .(Mamma Mia reference again).

  • The next morning Jack makes Kate coffee and the two chat for a bit about Jack's father's shoes (Kate spots them and thinking they are Jack's suggest that he should consider hiking boots instead which leads into a whole schpeel about what shoes Jack put on his father's feet for the funeral...touching moment...etc.) and are interrupted when the phone rings.

  • Kate tells Jack that she will see him at the airport and then leaves so he can answer the phone.

  • The caller is Ben (who we see on the other end of the line looking beat up and muddy at the marina possibly meaning that he definately did go after Penny but ran into a few problems) who tells Jack that he has gotten sidetracked and needs Jack to pick up Locke's body at the butchershop where he left it.

  • Jack agrees and is next seen at said carnicerĂa where he meets Ben's lady 'friend' (Jill) who agreed to take care of Locke's body in the one of the premiere episodes this season.

  • She take him to the body and after asking a question about a bag that Jack is holding and receiving no answer tells Jack that she has been instructed to lend him the van and leaves to pull it around.

  • Jack proceeds to put his father's shoes on Locke's feet (my question is why did he even bother tying them?) telling Locke that the whole situation is 'even crazier than Locke was,' then he gives the un-opened suicide note back to Locke.

  • Then we see Jack at the airport answering questions about why he's traveling to Guam with ''Bentham's'' body, meanwhile he spots Kate (who looks kind of like Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider) walking throught the airport.

  • A man in the line behind Jack gives him his condolences for losing his friend (so this guy will most likely be an important character this season).

  • Jack is then approached by Sun who (when he is surprised to see her) tells him that if there is any chance that Jin is still alive she is going back.

  • Sayid is seen being escorted by a marshall (I assume she was a marshall) to the plane (interesante).

  • We then see Hurley with a guitar case waiting for the plane with a bunch of other people when a lady comes over the P.A. saying that there are plenty of empty seats for flight 316 still open. Hurley jumps up and tells the lady that those seats are not open, that they are his, he bought all t 78 seats. They argue but Hurley refuses to back down, so the lady has no choice but to admit that the flight is full.

  • Jack approaches Hurley, happy that they are on the same flight yadda, yadda, yadda.

  • Next scene Jack boards the plane walking past Sayid and the marshall pasing slightly at Kate's seat before taking his own.

  • Just before the flight attendants are about to close the doors Ben (with an arm in a sling, still looking rather rough) enters the plane with a ticket which causes Hurley to freak out.

  • Overdominearing Jack gets control of the situation and everyone is 'calm' when he is approached by a flight attendant (who looks like Cindy from the first flight) who says that they found something of his (Locke's suicide note) in his cargo.

  • Jack takes his seat and the flight commences (with the same music as was playing when Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, and Frank were in the helicopter leaving the Island).

  • When the fasten seat belt sign is turned off he goes to sit next to Kate and goes into some cheesy bit about how amazing it is that they are all on the same plane (which is responded to with sarcasm on Kate's part).

  • He then makes some retort along the lines of 'it's almost lke we're all back together again' to which Kate remarks "We're on the same plane, that doesn't make us back together." (Hooray there is still hope for Sawyer, just so long as he hasn't fallen for Juliet, but knowing what she did to him when he was a prisoner I kind've doubt that's happened.)

  • The pilot then comes over the P.A. introducing himself as Frank Lapidus (gasp).

  • Jack asks the Cindy-looking flight attendant if he can speak to Frank being as they are old friends, she agrees to ask if he will take his seat (he can't be up while the cockpit is open).

  • Frank comes out to talk with Jack and is surprised to see Sayid, Hurley, Kate and Sun also on the plane: "We're not going to Guam are we?" is his remark.

  • Later in the trip Jack and Ben are sitting next to each other and Ben asks Jack about the note, blah, blah, blah, Ben convinces Jack to read the note and gets up to 'give him some privacy' (go crash the plane).

  • The note says: I wish you had believed [in] me - JL.

  • Then they hit turbulance and the noise/purple light we viewers know as meaning a flash is happening on the island occurs and POOF Jack wakes up on the Island.

The episode ends with a Dharma bus driving up to the lake thing and a man getting out and pointing a gun at the 3 in the water (in case you forgot who those three are since it has indeed been a long time since the beginning of the post they are: Jack, Kate, and Hurley). Hurley then says "Jin." and thus Jin lowers his gun and smiles slightly in bewilderment...L O S T.

The promos have revealed that next week's episode is all about what happened to John off the Island and therefore we must wait two weeks to get back to the present and find out what is to become of those on the island. How very irksom this is to me. Oh well, I 'll manage.
